She Gives: Growing Women’s Giving in Australia was officially launched at Admiralty House by Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of Australia in a landmark event celebrating women’s leadership in philanthropy.

Over 100 guests from across Australia joined us for the launch, which began with a moving Acknowledgement of Country from Tanya Hosch AM, Director of GO Foundation, She Gives Advisory Group Member and featured remarks from an inspiring national cross-section of women, including:

  • Karen Brittain – Executive Officer of 100 Women
  • Libby Prell - Chair of Mparntwe Alice Springs Community Foundation,
  • Melanie Cooper - Chair of Coopers Brewery
  • Brenda Gaddi - Founder of Women of Colour Australia
  • Peggy Flannery - Co-Founder of the Flannery Foundation and Founder of Peggy’s Place
  • Leanne Lester - Professor at the Centre for Social Impact, University of Western Australia
  • Deanne Weir – Chair of WeirAnderson Foundation, She Gives Advisory Group Member

Attendees included distinguished leaders from across philanthropy, business, government and civil society. We were also honoured to welcome Her Excellency the Honourable Dame Quentin Bryce AD CVO, former Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, alongside many other esteemed Australian women whose leadership continues to shape our national story.

She Gives Report Launched at Admiralty House

The launch marked the release of the largest mixed-methods study of women’s giving ever undertaken nationally. Drawing on insights from more than 2,000 women, the report highlights the powerful role women already play in shaping generosity across Australia - and calls for a deliberate national shift to recognise, resource and grow women’s giving at scale.

The occasion was both a celebration and a call to action, underscoring the pivotal opportunity presented by Australia’s $5.4 trillion intergenerational wealth transfer and the urgent need to strengthen philanthropy in response to rising social need.
